Madras Day 2007 Kickoff: Designing a Chennai T-shirt

We began our preparations for Madras Day 2007 a couple of weeks ago.
And the new T-shirt was first on the board.

Last year, we had organised a T-shirt design contest. And we received a few interesting designs. Shreyas R. Krishnan from Raja Annamalaipuram won the prize for her work.

So we invited Shreyas to work on a strong design for Chennai's 2007 T-shirt.

The 'kolam' design, we had adopted in a flash in 2006. The kolam is a very strong design; wonder what you feel about it . . .

Anyway, Shreyas who had moved to the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, froze on a design after she went for walks in George Towne, north Madras. She was attracted by the promotionals that wholesale stainless steel merchants had painted on their walls.

So she juggled the coffee dabra and 'ka' and 'pi' to freeze her design. And that is what will go on the 2007 T-shirt which is being produced in Tiruppur.

We would be happy to take pre-production orders from all the Chennai based BPO and IT companies, from city clubs and community groups.
Wouldn't it be great to see people wearing the Chennai T-shirt . . .

By the way, we are running a T-shirt design contest this year. Click here for the details!
